“What's in a name? that which we call a rose
by any other name would smell as sweet.”
- Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet
Deodar Cedar Cone Rose © Yvonne Cornell 2013That which we call a rose might not always have a scent. The immature green cone of the Deodar Cedar, an evergreen coniferous tree, is tightly wrapped and held together by the pressure of its water content. As the cone dries, it unravels in a spiral pattern, leaving only a few unfurled layers at the top. Meet the beautiful Deodar Cedar Cone Rose. By any other name, it still won't smell as sweet as the flowering rose.
